The Religion of Hatred

It seems the lastest anti-Obama rant is coming directly from the Bible - Psalm 109:8, "May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership." Sounds innocuous enough when taken out of context, but the next verse clarifies the intention. "May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow."

Not so innocuous anymore.

Somehow, I don't think God intended His word to be used in this way. The far right evangelical conservatives who came up with this gem claim to be "pro-life", yet the use of this verse is clearly a gimmick to recruit "Christian" warriors willing to take back a country they believe they have lost. All it takes is one nutcase (anyone remember Timothy McVeigh?) to create complete chaos. Is that what they really want? What, exactly, do they believe their reward will be in heaven?

Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
